PISA SEARCH ENGINE
Through the main roads of the estate, in Pisa with deviations on small secondary paths, the Viale del Gombo, famous road surrounded by pine trees, leads from Cascine Vecchie to the beach through particular environments where there are flooded woods, with large ash trees, lianas and reed beds that to the south they open up to give way to the vast wet plain of the blades.
Further on, instead, wide expanses of maritime pines announce the proximity of the sea and that's where the presidential residence of the Gombo is located, a building of architectural value in iron and wood. Along the River Morto Nuovo you reach the idrovora and Torre Riccardi.
Immersed in nature and walking on flat land, you can cross different natural environments: the woods of pines and oaks, the deciduous forest and finally the dune strip. Also, walking in the inner avenues, it will not be difficult to approach the park's wildlife.
The Visitor Center of San Rossore, which organizes itineraries and guided tours on foot, by bike, by bus, by horse and carriage, operates all year round. It is a unique experience for everyone.
In the heart of the estate has been present for years also the Foresteria Casale La Sterpaia with the homonymous Visitor Center, inserted in a nineteenth-century architectural building of great prestige, located at the racecourse next to the impressive stables of the House of Savoy.
The Tenuta San Rossore also hosts the highly frequented racecourse, also called Prato degli Escoli, designed by Leopoldo di Lorena in 1829, with its running tracks (one for flat and one for obstacle races, located inside the before), its training tracks and its stables.
The Tenuta di San Rossore with its facilities, together with the nearby district of Barbaricina, renamed "the country of horses", in which numerous and well-equipped stables stationed horses that train and compete at the racecourse, between breeding and sporting activities, gives a significant contribution to the park's production and tourism activities.
