Riparbella Pisa Surroundings



Location Nocolino, placed under the Poggio of the same Nicola, in the last century was a large farm with a manor house still recognizable from the loggia. The Poggio of the same Nicola, at 598 m above sea level, is the dominant elevation of this stretch of coastline. A conical shape and the top ends in a vast square with a dip in the middle, it was thought that the same could be an extinct volcano, but this hypothesis was rejected by geologists.

Location San Martino is located at junction of Provincial Road 13 for Riparbella with the State Road n. 68 Via Salaiola and takes its name from the San Martino Farm whose buildings are located on the left towards Volterra and now house a tourist complex - receptive.

Consistent Etruscan traces are found in Location Belora, small hill near the Aurelia road and the river Cecina; systematic excavations carried out in the nineteenth century by Giusto Cinti of Volterra, Alphonse Francois and Chiellini brought to light many valuable artifacts currently scattered in various European museums, they emphasized the historical importance of the Belora center.

Some of the most interesting pieces of the rich necropolis can be found in the Guarnacci Museum of Volterra and the Hermitage in Moscow.

In an Amsterdam museum it seems to have kept a life-size bronze statue representing an Etruscan god.

The Company Faunistica "The Garden" located in the extreme border of the township near the Province of Livorno is a state-owned complex in the municipal administration management of Riparbella since 1976. It covers about 600 hectares consisting mainly of scrub Mediterranean with the presence of holm oak, turkey oak, flowering ash and hornbeam. Today the company has an Environmental Education Center built by the Municipality in

collaboration with the Province of Pisa in the building complex, and used for tourist activities - teaching.

Inside the forest we have been made equipped nature trails through which you can admire the variety of flora and fauna that the company offers.
