Bientina



The town of Bientina, by its nature artisan village, located at the foothills of the Monti Pisani.

Despite having lost its ancient medieval dresses to hire a connotation of a commercial nature, in Bientina you can visit: the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, where the remains of St. Valentine are kept, the Museum of Sacred Art, the Etruscan Museum and the Church St. Jerome, where a permanent exhibition on the ancient history of the area. The collection includes exhibits of proto-Etruscan-Roman and Etruscan times in the Marsh of Bientina found during the 1953 and 1957 excavations.

Surely natural interest is the Bosco Tanali, located on the western side of the Marshes of Bientina, to the slopes of the Monti Pisani. The forest covers about 153 hectares at the edge of the bed of the lake. The area includes a variety of very important areas from a naturalistic point of view: periodically flooded wet meadows, pagliereti, damp woods, reeds and small ponds; important environments for the life of many species of plants and animals.

The craft is an important resource for the country. The fourth Saturday and fourth Sunday of each month in Piazza dei Borghi takes the traditional antiques market, which sees the presence of numerous exhibitors with furniture and various objects.
